Acts of passion and kindness have made women like Aurora Pacheco memorable in the hearts and minds of all of us. As postmaster of a small district in New Mexico, her post office became a kind of community center where people came for help, more than they did for stamps. Aurora's wisdom is a gift to all who have ever known her. Over the years, she has matured through her experiences with family, business, tradition and devotion to her spiritual life. Aurora's contribution to the world is the role model she's been as daughter, professional women, wife, mother and friend.
This is part of the 1993 series "The Face of Wisdom: Stories of Elder Women," by filmmaker Catherine Busch-Johnston, which focuses on the wisdom and experience of women who are models for others trying to realize their potential and express their values, creativity and cultural traditions. These films remind us to appreciate and cultivate our own relationships with one of our most valuable resources, our elders, who can serve as our mentors and guides.
